There's so many apps available to us now that help us with everyday tasks, we thought we'd have a look at some motoring apps to help you on your journeys. Remember don't use your phone whilst you're driving, check it before you set off.
We all know it can be a nightmare to find a convenient parking spot, and when you do it can sometimes cost a fortune. This app from the AA means you never need to worry about parking again! It covers all free and paid car parks in the UK and Ireland. For some car parks it offers real time information about availability, opening hours and prices. It has Google Maps built into the app so that it can direct you to your chosen car park.
Find My Car
We've all been there, aimlessly walking around a car park hoping you'll spot your car or remember where you parked it. This app takes the embarrassment away! Find My Car is designed to make sure you never forget where you parked your car again. It uses the GPS in your phone to map the position of your car to direct you back to it. You have to remember to log the position when you get out of your car, so as long as you remember that you're ok!
This app gives you comprehensive traffic information. It shows you road works, incidents and general traffic on an interactive map, it even highlights the severity of the traffic too. So there's no need to delay your journey if you check this app before you travel.
WhatGas Petrol Prices
No one likes to pay a fortune to fill up their car. This app helps you save money by pinpointing your closest and cheapest petrol station. Giving you prices for unleaded, diesel and LPG petrol. It covers the UK, Ireland, Portugal, Germany, and is aiming to be available all over the world, so you'll be able to find the cheapest fuel when you're on holiday too!
Drivermatics Blackbox and Dash Cam
This app allows you to monitor and record videos of your driving. It monitors, distance, speed and it even places you on a league table with other motorists! The video recording facility could help out during any insurance disputes because you can use the footage as evidence. It even has Sat Nav built into the app and gives you a choice of Google, Waze or Apple.
Ordnance Survey GB Road Atlas
If you've followed your Sat Nav down a country road or into a field and need to find your way out, you can't beat a map! Clear mapping without loads of sheets of paper. It's great for planning walks for when you get to your destination too.
Another handy traffic app, JamCam shows you live feeds from over 100 cameras on the UK's busiest motorways and A roads, as well as all of London's street cameras. So you can see how busy a traffic jam actually is before you plan your route.
Motorway Services UK
In need of a coffee break? This app gives details of where motorway services are, it even tells you which shops and restaurants are on the site!
The Official DVSA Highway Code
Whether you're learning to drive or already can but feel like you need to brush up on your road sign knowledge, this app is the official Highway Code, giving you up to date information on everything to do with driving on UK roads. It even has quizzes so you can test your knowledge.
No change to pay to park your car? With this app you don't need it, it'll show you where there's a RingGo site, there's thousands throughout the country, and you can pay via your phone. You'll need the car park's code, your car registration number and your credit card details. You can even save your details for next time too!
