2018 has previously seen month on month increases in the scrap prices being offered for cars, May however hasn't seen an increase. It's not bad news though, prices have maintained. In May we saw prices have a 0% change on those in April - making them the highest prices on offer this year for the second month running!

Scrap car prices are 34% higher than they were compared to this time last year. Whilst it's great to see the prices maintaining, there's no certainty that they will continue into June. The price of scrap metal changes in line with the global demand, so prices could fall at any time.

We've taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, by adjusting the prices to show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.
