Scrappage schemes - Which one's for you?

Scrappage schemes are being announced by different car makers seemingly each time you look at the news in recent weeks. Great news if you've got an old car to scrap and are in the market for a new one. Which scrappage scheme to choose?

The schemes vary so you'll need to ensure your car is eligible and that you're getting the best value. Some of the car scrappage schemes focus on only scrapping diesel cars, whilst others are open to petrol cars too. Some have a limited model range to choose from, whereas some are less restrictive.

Audi scrappage scheme

Audi have the highest scrappage incentive on offer so far, £8,000 if you decide to buy a new Q7 e-tron. They state that through their scheme your old car will be dismantled and that they will "wherever possible, recycle its materials".

BMW scrappage scheme

You might be spoilt for choice with the huge range of new BMW and Mini models on offer when you scrap your old diesel car, we make it over 30 models! To be able to take advantage you must have owned the scrap car for 12 months though!

Citroën scrappage scheme

The Citroën Scrappage Scheme gives customers a choice of 13 models. Cars scrapped through the scheme are recycled through CarTakeBack, Citroën's approved scrap car recycling partner.

Dacia scrappage scheme

The scheme on offer from Dacia is only available on their Duster model and offers you up to £1,000 as a scrappage incentive.

DS scrappage scheme

With the DS scrappage scheme you aren't limited to a few of their models, you can choose from any of the DS model range. All cars scrapped through the scheme will be recycled by the official scrap car recycling partner to DS, CarTakeBack.

Fiat scrappage scheme

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is offering up to £5,300 off selected new Fiat, Jeep, Abarth and Alfa Romeo models. If you're in the market for a new one of these cars, you'll have to act quickly as the scheme only runs until the end of September!

Ford scrappage scheme

Scrap your old car with the Ford scrappage scheme, whether it's petrol or diesel, and choose to get a scrappage incentive on a range of their cars or commercial vehicles. All vehicles traded in under Ford's scheme will be recycled, ensuring that there is a positive effect on the environment, this is true car scrappage.

Hyundai scrappage scheme

Unlike some of the other schemes that have been announced, Hyundai aren't just scrapping cars, their scheme also allows cars to be traded in, whilst still benefiting from the scrappage discounts.

Kia scrappage scheme

Kia's scheme has the smallest range out there, with just two models eligible for the scheme, the Rio and Picanto. You'll get a 7 year warranty if you choose this deal though.

Mazda scrappage scheme

With Mazda's scheme owners of both petrol and diesel cars can take advantage of the scrappage incentives. All vehicles traded in under Mazda's scheme will be recycled by CarTakeBack - ensuring a true car scrappage scheme.

Mercedes-Benz scrappage scheme

Trade your scrap diesel car in for one of Mercedes' diesel models with a Euro 6 rating, a plug-in hybrid model, or a Smart electric car.

MG scrappage scheme

MG's scheme is only available on one model, the MG3, the scheme offers a minimum of £1,500 for your old petrol or diesel car.

Nissan scrappage scheme

As well as giving you the choice to scrap your old car for a new model, Nissan are giving customers the option to choose a used Nissan Leaf.

Peugeot Scrappage Scheme

Peugeot, the lowest CO2 emitting car brand in Europe, gives you a choice of 14 models through their scrappage scheme and ensures that all scrap cars are recycled through CarTakeBack their approved scrap car recycling partner.

Renault scrappage scheme

Choose the Renault scrappage scheme and no matter whether your old car is petrol or diesel you can choose from a select range of their models. All vehicles traded for scrappage with Renault will be recycled, giving a positive effect on the environment.

Seat scrappage scheme

Seat's scheme has high restrictions relating to how long you must have owned the scrap vehicle for. Whereas most are 90 days, Seat stipulate that you have owned the car for 6 months.

Skoda scrappage scheme

Skoda too state that you must have owned the car to be scrapped for at least 6 months to be able to take advantage of their incentives.

Suzuki scrappage scheme

Suzuki's scheme is only running until the end of September so you'll need to choose quickly if you want to take advantage of this scrappage scheme.

Toyota scrappage scheme

Toyota haven't given the biggest incentives towards their greenest models, such as the Prius, like you might expect. They've focussed incentives on smaller models because "this is where the majority of transactions are likely to be".

Vauxhall scrappage scheme

Vauxhall's scheme has been running the longest, though the scheme doesn't recycle all of the vehicles it has traded in.

Volkswagen scrappage scheme

VW's scrappage scheme lets customers choose from either a new car or a commercial vehicle when they scrap their old diesel car with them.
