The summer holidays for many families can be a struggle to find something different and new to keep the kids entertained. We've put together some road trips that showcase the UK's beautiful landscape and get you to visit places you might not have thought about going to before. Pack up the car and head off on an adventure in the UK! 

Top Five Scenic Roads to Drive in The UK

A9 - Stirling to Inverness - Scotland

This drive on the A9 takes in some stunning scenery as you travel the 3 hour journey between Stirling and Inverness. At 273 miles, it's the longest road in Scotland. The A9 even gets a mention in one of our favourite James Bond films, Skyfall, if it's good enough for 007 it's good enough for us! There's some fantastic places to stop en route too, you'll travel past Perth and through the Cairngorms National Park make sure you choose a perfect picnic spot on the way.

A57 - The Snake Pass - England

This winding and bending road opened in 1821 and takes you over the Pennines connecting the cities of Sheffield and Manchester. This road takes you through the Peak District with beautiful views of the National Trust's High Peak Estate. With picturesque locations on the way to stop for a pub lunch, plus it's a great road trip to take to have a city break with so much to do in either Manchester or Sheffield when you get there.

Llanberis Pass - Wales

The Llanberis Pass between the mountains of Snowdon and the Glyderau. You'll drive on a winding route through Snowdonia, past Llyn Peris and Llyn Padarn lakes and ending up at the royal town of Caernarfon, where you can explore the castle and take in the waterside views. The road also reaches great heights, the summit of the pass is 359 metres above sea level! It's a popular location for rock climbers, so if you fancy a climb on the crags, this could be the road trip for you.

B4632 - Cheltenham to Stratford - England

On this road trip, you'll drive straight through quaint country towns and villages which connect the Cotswolds to Stratford-upon-Avon. There's some great stop off points for afternoon teas and wonderful walks. Plus you could take in a play at the Royal Shakespeare Company or even visit Shakespeare's house!

Cheddar Gorge - Somerset - England

Right in the middle of the West Country, Cheddar Gorge has a twisting and turning road showcasing the mesmerising limestone cliffs. Cheddar Gorge is the second greatest natural wonder in Britain. The gorge is home of the Cheddar caves, where Britain's oldest complete human skeleton, Cheddar Man, was found in 1903, estimated to be 9,000 years old! There's many places to stop off to take a family selfie and explore the caves and cliff top walks. Plus it's home to the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company, perfect for a lunch break!
