There are some things you don't usually associate with the cars on our roads, and one of those is animals. As it's World Animal Day, we thought we'd take a look at the more unusual animals we've found dealing with cars!

Raccoons

This raccoon mechanic has been learning the tricks of the trade from his human companion.

Donkeys

Oklahoma police officers gave an escaped donkey a lift home in the back of their patrol car. Apparently the car was left in quite a mess. We aren't surprised!

Sheep

Who needs a mechanical car wash when you've got mountain sheep around?

Birds

A dove was found nesting on a police patrol car in Ohio, USA. Officers gave this expectant mother shelter with an umbrella, cordoned off the car so that no one would disturb her, and even dug up some worms for her dinner!

Cows

Cows in New Zealand play with a remote controlled car out in the field. They look like they're having a great time!

Sloths

This three-toed sloth seems quite happy hanging around in a Toyota.

Goats

A hungry goat has figured how to open a car door to get to some Doritos.

Koalas

A teen was surprised to find a koala behind the wheel of their family Land Rover. He looks disappointed that he can't reach the pedals!

Lizards

Things you don't expect to hear Red Bull's Verstappen say down the comms in Free Practice at the F1 in Singapore:
"There's a giant lizard on the track!"

Dogs

OK, so it's well known that dogs love car rides. But how often do you see a German Shepherd taking a friend out for a ride in a side car?
