In our latest look at cars of the future we're focusing on electric vehicles. Many of us are put off owning an electric car because we don't like the idea of adding time on to our journey and having to find somewhere to stop off and charge the car. No need to worry about that anymore! Hanergy, a Chinese solar manufacturer have revealed four models of car that incorporate the company's thin-film solar modules into the electric car. This means that the cars are "zero charge" for short and medium length journeys.

The solar cells on the cars are able to generate 8 to 10 kWh of electricity from exposure to "five to six hours of sunlight" enough energy to power the car for about 50 miles a day, all without needing to be plugged in to charge.

Dr. Gao Weimin, Vice President of Hanergy Holding Group and CEO of its Solar Vehicle Business Division said:

"Under the mode of routine-day use, the vehicles are able to charge themselves with clean solar energy while traveling, making “zero charging” possible. It alters our inherent concept of “distance per charge” of an electric vehicle. In the cases of weak sunlight or long-distance travel, the lithium batteries equipped in the vehicles can also get power from charging posts, enabling them to travel a maximum of 350 km per charge."

Unveiled earlier this year in Bejing, the company has said that these cars could be available for sale in just three years from now! We look forward to seeing these futuristic looking cars on the road soon.
