Electric vehicles cause a buzz

Electric vehicles are arguably the next big thing in the motoring industry, and a new report from Business Green seems to confirm that. It tells us that plug in car sales, which includes full electric vehicles such as the Nissan Leaf and hybrid cars such as the Peugeot 3008 Crossover, have increased by a massive 94% in 2015 in the UK. That's quite impressive for this relatively new technology.

More and more electric cars are coming on the market in the UK as prices are coming down and the distance batteries can keep a car moving for is on the up. Brands such as Ford, Nissan, Citroen, Peugeot, Lotus, Mitsubishi, Range Rover and Volvo are all offering plug in cars to customers, and Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin and MG all have electric concept cars under their belts.

Owning an electric vehicle has become a more logical choice as a growing network of charge points is popping up across the country, including fast charge points appearing at motorway service stations, which can charge car batteries to 80% in as little as 20 minutes. The UK Government are also running a grant scheme for the purchase of plug in cars which knocks up to a whopping £5,000 off the price, as well as proposing an increase in taxes for petrol and diesel cars with high emissions. It's no wonder that electric vehicle sales have increased.

Environmentally conscious consumers choose plug in cars as they scrap their old ones.

All these factors have helped push sales up 94% in the last year in the UK, but are motorists becoming more environmentally conscious too? We certainly think so, with thousands of customers choosing to responsibly recycle their polluting old scrap cars through CarTakeBack every month. As it's still a fairly new technology we're pleased to say we haven't had any plug in cars recycled with us yet, but our Scrap Car Recycling Centres are ready and waiting for them when they arise.

We expect to see many more plug in cars on the roads in the coming years. Would you go for one as your next car when your current car reaches the end of the road? We must say, we think they are quite appealing.
