Ford has announced the launch of a car scrappage scheme. CarTakeBack are Ford's approved scrap car recycling partner and welcome the opportunity to work with Ford dealerships to ensure that vehicles recycled with them under the scheme are disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.

CarTakeBack has been Ford’s approved scrap car recycling partner since 2005. We're experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to car scrappage - we've stopped over 600,000 tonnes of materials from scrap cars ending up in landfill, which includes recycling over 900,000 old Fords!

Back in 2009 the government launched a scrappage scheme, which gave scrap car owners £2000 off a brand new car when they recycled their old one. 240,000 of the 400,000 cars that were scrapped during the scheme, were recycled with us. Importantly, each of the 240,000 cars recycled with us had a DVLA Certificate of Destruction issued for it, which triggered the approval of £480 million to be paid out in scrappage incentives!

Making sure that all cars were permanently taken off the road was vital. Senior Sales Manager from CarTakeBack, Kathryn Byng said;

“Our secure link to DVLA’s national vehicle registration database provided vital evidence that the cars were destroyed and responsibly recycled. Under no circumstances could cars be returned to the road, in the UK or in any other country around the world – ensuring true car scrappage. We are committed to maintaining the same high standards during the Ford scrappage scheme.”

We've issued over 4.5 million Certificates of Destruction, by recycling scrap cars for members of the public, as well as working with organisations such as, car dealerships, the police and the government.
