The latest car manufacturer to announce a scrappage scheme is Mitsubishi. The Mitsubishi Scrappage Scheme will offer owners of pre-2010 vehicles a scrappage discount of between £2,000 and £4,000 on a range of four of their models. It's open to owners of petrol and diesel cars and will run until the 28th of December 2017.

Mitsubishi Motors Managing Director in the UK, Lance Bradley said;

“As we have demonstrated with the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, we are committed to helping drivers enjoy more environmentally-friendly motoring without asking them to compromise day-to-day practicality and we’re delighted to offer a scrappage initiative that provides an enhanced opportunity for even more customers to enjoy the benefits of a newer, safer, cleaner vehicle.”

Mitsubishi states that vehicles traded in under the scheme must be "permanently destroyed" - CarTakeBack is the exclusively approved scrap car recycling partner for Mitsubishi. We'll be working with Mitsubishi dealerships throughout the scheme to ensure that all scrappage vehicles are destroyed and recycled. We'll ensure that the all-important DVLA Certificate of Destruction will be issued for each vehicle. This vital certificate proves that cars are no longer on the road and have been responsibly recycled.

CarTakeBack Senior Sales Manager, Kathryn Byng said;

“Mitsubishi can rely on CarTakeBack as their official scrap car recycling partner, to ensure that cars scrapped through the scheme will be recycled by our licensed operators, in line with the law. CarTakeBack's secure link to DVLA’s vehicle registration database provides vital evidence that the cars have been responsibly recycled and destroyed.”
