CarTakeBack's initiative that enables the public to donate the value from old cars direct to charity has hit a huge milestone... raising over £250k for good causes!

We're so proud of our Charity Car scheme, and all our wonderful supporters who have donated their old cars over the years enabling us to hit this huge total. We won't be stopping any time soon, in fact, we have more Official Partners joining all the time and more generous people donating their cars to causes from huge national charities like Cancer Research UK and BBC Children in Need, to small local causes like Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital and The Haven refuge in Wolverhampton.

It was a donation of a Suzuki Jimny by Helen Roberts in Gloucestershire who pushed our donations over £250k and she was delighted with the service;

"Donating to Charity Car is so easy and quick. The lady who answered my call on Thursday afternoon was very helpful and the Jimny was collected early Friday morning. The car was collected from my home, I didn’t have to drive to the scrapyard or find someone to drive me back home. And I’m very pleased with the amount my old car raised for my chosen charity. I will definitely be using them again."

Helen’s car raised £336 for her chosen cause, Charity Car Official Partners – Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Alzheimer's Research UK says Thank You

Helen had to be quizzed to talk about her generosity but we think she deserves recognition as this is just one of the many charitable deeds she's involved with, including five-hour fitness marathons! She also loves her cars and has been impressed with her second-hand 4x4s;

"I had only had the Suzuki Jimny for a couple of years. It was a used car when I bought it. Prior to that, I’d had a Suzuki Vitara for about 6 years. As my job entailed a lot of driving round rural lanes, being a bit higher up than in an average car meant that I was able to see over some of the hedges to the road ahead, and over the years avoid cows, sheep, geese, deer and even boar! Some of the old people I visited also lived at the end of lanes that deteriorated into a grassy/muddy track, so a small 4x4 was ideal for those conditions. And they are mechanically reliable, which is important when there are a lot of mobile phone dead-spots... you don’t want to break down in the middle of nowhere and then find you have no signal!"

So a huge thanks to Helen and of course all the donations over the last six years that have helped our wonderful Charity Car scheme hit £250k!

The last word has to go to one of our Official Charity Car Partners - the recipient of the £250k reaching donation - Alzheimer's Research UK. Their Fundraising Officer Gillian Edwards said;

"We’re incredibly grateful to CarTakeBack and Helen for helping to power dementia research through the Charity Car initiative. Thanks to this donation, Alzheimer's Research UK is able to continue funding the very best research which will lead us to a life-changing treatment for dementia."

“We’re also delighted that Helen’s donation has brought the total amount raised for charity, through this initiative, to over £250,000. That’s a fantastic achievement for Charity Car, with so many causes benefitting from the generosity of its customers. It’s great to be part of such a worthwhile initiative, we really appreciate the support.”
