Do I need to get in touch with DVLA?

We'll let you know if you need to get in touch with DVLA.

There's usually no need for you to get in touch with DVLA if your car is to be scrapped, as the CarTakeBack branch should issue a Certificate of Destruction.

However, you'll need to notify DVLA if:

  • your car is to remain on the road (instead of being scrapped);
  • you don't get your Certificate of Destruction within 24 hours; or
  • you receive a Notification of Destruction (because it hasn't been possible to issue a Certificate of Destruction).
