Due to its popularity in the 2000s and 2010s a large number continue to reach the end of their life and are being scrapped due to age, high mileage, and the cost of repairs. Of the Ford Focus’ scrapped this year with CarTakeBack, the average age was 17.5 years, the most common fuel type was petrol, and the most frequent colour was blue, which bucked the general trend of silver! The average scrap price for a Ford Focus over 2025 was £234.
Ford features three times in the top ten with the Focus, Fiesta and Mondeo. Vauxhall holds the most positions with the Corsa, Astra, Zafira and Insignia. The remaining three places in the top ten are taken by the Renault Clio, Peugeot 207 and Citroën C3.
Just three colours feature in the most frequent scrapped car top ten – silver, blue and black. The oldest average age is held by the Renault Clio, at 18 years it’s a long lasting model.

Silver claims the top spot for the colour of most scrapped cars in 2025, with blue and black not too far behind. The grey shade that started to become so popular in the 2000s is the next most frequent colour we’ve seen in scrap cars in 2025, with red and white trailing behind.
Petrol cars made up 59% of the vehicles scrapped in 2025, 40% were diesel and the remaining 1% covered hybrid and electric vehicles.
The average mileage for scrapped cars in 2025 was 125,000.

The Ford Focus has consistently been the most scrapped car with CarTakeBack for the last decade, since it first topped the chart in 2016, taking over from the Ford Fiesta. The percentage of Ford Focus’ scrapped has been increasing year on year, until it plateaued in 2024 and subsequently decreased its percentage share in 2025.
