About the CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index
The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index covering the last 13 months. It’s updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout the UK. We’ve taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, the prices show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.
Each month in 2023, the most frequently scrapped car with CarTakeBack has been the Ford Focus. In April the average scrap value of a Ford Focus was £380. Despite the overall increase to the average scrap car price, the average price of a Ford Focus is down by 1%, just a £2 difference.
Of the top 5 cars scrapped, other than the Ford Focus all other vehicles saw an increase compared to last month. The Vauxhall Corsa saw the biggest rise, of 7%, that’s an extra £21!
