As we head into autumn this month we’re happy to see that the weather is still bright and we can also report that the scrap car prices during September have risen by 4% compared to August. Making them the highest prices we’ve seen this year! Prices are 19% higher than this time last year too, fantastic news if you’ve got a car to sell for scrap.
These high prices for scrap cars may continue into next month, though as always the prices on offer are influenced by the global demand for scrap metal. Prices could drop at any time, so make the most of the best scrap car prices so far this year and sell your car for scrap!
The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index covering the last 13 months. It’s updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout the UK. The prices are shown as a percentage, using the first month as the base price.
We’ve taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, by adjusting the prices to show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.
