Scrap car prices maintained with April’s average price at £255. May saw prices take a dip of 5%, with an average of £243 being paid for cars, the lowest average value seen in 2025 so far. Prices recovered in June to end the quarter, rising by £10 to an average scrap car price of £253.

About the CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index
The CarTakeBack Scrap Car Price Index is a rolling monthly index. It’s updated monthly using the prices paid for scrap cars at CarTakeBack recycling centres throughout the UK. We’ve taken into account that cars come in all shapes and sizes, which has an effect on their scrap value, the prices show what the average car would be worth. This means that the index gives a great indication of the movement in the value of scrap cars from one month to another.
The Ford Fiesta ranks third on our most frequently scrapped cars chart, this recent period has seen some big changes in its average value. The average across the three months was £220. Month on month the value went from a 5% increase in April, to a 6% decrease in May, then a whopping 13% increase in June – reaching a price of £233.
As with all scrap values, your Ford Fiesta could be worth more than the average scrap price, depending on factors such as age, condition and mileage.

In the first half of 2025 the Ford Focus was the most frequently scrapped car with CarTakeBack. During this time a scrap Ford Focus was worth an average of £236.
Between April and June, the most frequently scrapped cars were the Ford Focus, Vauxhall Corsa, Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Astra and the Vauxhall Zafira.
