Saab originated in 1937 as a Swedish aerospace company, the company diversified into the automotive industry, launching its first car, the Saab 92, in 1949. Saab’s history in the UK began with the introduction of the Saab 96 in the early 1960s, which was a popular model that won the RAC Rally three times in the 60s. Despite a strong reputation for safety and design, the company went bankrupt in 2011, and ceased production in the UK.
