On average in the UK, close to a million cars are scrapped each year! When a car is scrapped a Certificate of Destruction is issued by the recycler, this process notifies DVLA that the car is no longer on the road. Data from DVLA shows that in 2023 over 880,000 vehicles were deregistered.

In 2024 the average price for a scrap car was £248 with CarTakeBack.
2024 saw prices building in the first quarter of the year to a high of £268. Then followed a drop in April, followed by another period of growth to June. Prices declined in the last six months of the year, except for a small increase in October. The year ended with the average price hitting £229 in December.
