On average in the UK, close to a million cars are scrapped each year! When a car is scrapped a Certificate of Destruction is issued by the recycler, this process notifies DVLA that the car is no longer on the road. Data from DVLA shows that in 2023 over 880,000 vehicles were deregistered.

2023 saw strong scrap car prices throughout the first half of the year, with a high in April of almost £350. Then followed a gradual decline in prices, with the last few months of the year levelling out and averaging £270.
